Coach Alan Wilmes
Coach Wilmes is the Head Coach of the Blue Springs South High School football team. He's coached high school football for the last 18 years and has led teams to a State Finals appearance, 3x Final Four appearances, 7 District Championships, 10 Conference Championships, and was a 2020 & 2021 Kansas City Chiefs Coach of the Week, and was the 2020 & 2021 KC Suburban Red Conference Coach of the Year. In 2021, his team broke the PHS school record for wins with an 11-1 record.
Throughout his career he has coached the following notable athletes: Calvin Munson (NFL Linebacker for the New York Giants), Montee Ball (Runningback for the Denver Broncos), Connor Flynn and Jack Flynn (wrestle for the University of Missouri), and Jake Springer (DB for Ole Miss) and several other notable athletes. His 2021, team had two Simone award finalists and one winner (Mudia Reuben Otis Taylor Award winner)
He is married to his wife Cassidy and has three kids Ava, Cy and Zoey that are all active in youth sports.

Coach Boston Higgins
Coach Higgins graduated from Blue Springs High School. He went on to play college football at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Later transferred to Pittsburg State University where he was a three year starter, was a 2-time Conference Champion, and was a National Champion. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, Minor in Exercise Science. He also obtained a Masters in Educational Leadership.
He has coached at Raytown South/South Middle School, William Chrisman High School, Turner High School, and Park Hill South
High School and now Blue Springs South Football!

Outside of the weight room and coaching world, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing video games, and catching up on podcasts. Coach is also a huge fan of PONCHO’s here in Blue Springs.

Coach Nate Biggs
Coach Biggs is a Graduate of North Kansas City High School. He walked on to Missouri Western State University where he played college ball.

He began coaching at North Kansas City High School from 2012-2015 before moving to Park Hill South in 2021, and Blue Springs South in 2022. Coach has extensive experience in youth coaching as a part of the Parkville Vikings program and Stretch Field Football academy.
​
His hobbies consist of football, spending time with family and hunting. A fun fact about Coach Biggs is that he played percussion at halftime of the 2007 Peach Bowl.

Coach Travis Verdi
Coach has eight years of coaching experience under his belt and leads our defense at Blue Springs South as the Defensive Coordinator.

When he is not coaching, he is spending time with his wife Gina and his kids Brooklynn, Breanna, Olivia, Leonidas, and Luka.

Coach Matt Reynolds
Coach Reynolds grew up in Shoreline (N. Seattle), Wa. Playing TE/OLB in High School and for Mid-America Nazarene University as an OLB.
He started his coaching career at William Chrisman HS with stops at Ruskin HS, and Moreland Ridge Middle School before beginning his tenure at BSSHS as the Head Freshman Coach.
In addition to football, he was a track and field star setting school records in the discus. His love for the javelin, shot, and discus has lead him to coach track as well as football. He has served as the assistant sprints coach at South since 2003.
He is an avid Seattle Seahawk/Washington Huskie fan, but have come to enjoy the Chiefs and local colleges as well. His hobbies include reading, working out daily and a fun fact about him is; he met his wife Christie on a blind date and have been married now for 25 years.They have three kids, Brendan, Austin, and Brooklynn.

Coach Mike Fansher
Coach Fansher has loved the game of football his whole life. He played football at Truman High school and then went to CMSU and played DE. He started teaching in Blue Springs in 1996 and started coaching at South in 1998 and has never considered leaving. He loves South Football and is blessed to have coached here for the last 26 years. He has been through just about everything including 4 state title appearances and 3 State Championships.
Mike is married to his beautiful wife Christy, (who is a proud BSS Jaguar coach’s wife) and they have two children Peyton and Presley.

Coach Dan Butt
Coach Dan Butt grew up in “Gods Country” he says, referring to (Iowa). In high school he played football, basketball, track, and baseball. After high school he attended Graceland University where he played Tight End and Wide Receiver.

His first season coaching at South was in 2016, where he has brought expertise to the receiving core while using his degree in Recreation Management as the equipment Tsar.
He is married to his wife Kerri, and they have 3 beautiful daughters, Tatum, Tessa, & Rowan.
In his free time he enjoys skiing and anything in the mountains.

Coach Mike Foster
coach Faster is married to his wife Kim and has 3 children, Heath, Eli, and Alex. He played defensive back at Easton High School in Easton, Maryland. He retired from the US Army after 23 years of service. After retiring from the military he accepted an intern position at LaGrange College in LaGrange, Georgia as a defensive back coach and assistant director of football operations.
With 24 years coaching experience, has coached football at different levels throughout his military service, including youth and adult recreational leagues, private and public high schools.

Coach Michael Suchanik
Coach "Suke" graduated from Park Hill South in 2020 where hee played under Coach Wilmes.

He was a 3-year varsity starter and all-state linebacker in high school
Coach Suke started coaching Park Hill South’s middle school in 2021 and then was blessed with the opportunity to coach with his high school coaches at Blue Springs South in 2022.

Coach Michael Kober
Kober is our Defensive Backs Coach with 12 years of experience in coaching. This is his 4th year coaching defensive backs at Blue Springs South.
Coach graduated from Pleasant Hill High School and went on to William Jewell College to play defensive back. He transferred to UCM and finished his Bachelor’s degree in Biology. After getting
an opportunity to coach high school football at his alma mater, he returned to UCM to get his Master’s Degree in teaching. He has also earned his Education Specialist in Administration.
In his 12 years of coaching football, he spent the first 3 years coaching at Pleasant Hill (his hometown) as a defensive backs coach. His second stop was at Belton for 5 years where he coached defensive backs and special teams and also spent time coaching linebackers and was a Defensive Coordinator.
